Hi today we got on the bus to lake Manapouri. Then got on the boat across the lake, it took 1 hour. Then got on another bus. then got on a boat to go through Doubtful sound. We saw sea lions and worlds tiniest ping wen. We ended at the Tasman sea. then all that over again and then got back to the campground and had dinner. THE END.
More Details: Opted for the tour bus service to the Ferry connection and totally enjoyed not having to drive for a day. Early departure and watched sunrise on route. Doubtful Sound is a fjord and so named by Captain Cook who upon approach from the Tasman Sea stated that it may be ‘doubtful’ that they could sail their way back out of the fjord if there was a possible loss of wind, so the ship bypassed it. With great amounts of rain the hillsides become alive with water falls. Such a remote beautiful location. We took our chance going on this trip with all the talk of Covid and not knowing what could happen. Next time we may opt for the overnight sailboat version of this trip!
