Hi today we had the best breakfast at the Sea side hotel. Then It Just got better. We took a boat to Ulva Island and saw lots of birds. Then we saw Jellyfish. When we got back we went to a magic show and I got to help. After that something amazing happened we saw a kiwi! It was most awesome spectacularly. P.S. And mommy really wants me to tell you the magicians name is BRENDAN DOOLEY.
More Details: Woke up and went to lovely historic South Sea hotel for breakfast. Walked the trails through town and made out way to the Ulva Island Ferry for some bird watching. Jade wood contest to see the most birds of which some favorites were the Stewart island robin, Waka bird, .. but no kiwi sightings.
After returning to main island, went to see Brendan Dooley magician perform in the town hall. He was spectacular! Made a spectators $20 bill appear inside a wrapped snickers bar inside a paper bag that was onstage the entire time – matched the serial number of the bill at the beginning and end of the trick! Jade was brought onstage to perform magic tricks with him and she was in heaven!
When it became dark around 10:30 – we ventured out to try our luck once more to see a kiwi bird. Yahoo! We tried a few locations around town and just missed seeing one the first time and then very fortunate the the last location! The sole kiwi came in/out of the bush several times and even walked up to Steve and pecked at his shoe! The kiwi moved lightening fast and was as big as a small chicken. Finally, finally we have seen a kiwi!
