Started the morning with a short jog around the neighborhood. Had lovely breakfast with Tamm & David. Then went up the street a short way and started hike up Grampian Hill to the lookouts. Tamm led the way and we stayed on hiking further. Short walk in town to the cathedral built by 1858. Nelson was the second location in New Zealand to be granted ‘city’ status because of a royal decree allowing the town to build a cathedral. Earthquakes led to some destruction but portions of it were rebuilt. David toured us around in the afternoon to see across the bay to Abel Tasman national park off in the distance. Afternoon out at Cable Bay where Jade the brave went swimming in frigid water! She said it wasn’t cold. A terrific day!
